Almost all students in the Czech Republic had used alcohol during the last 12 months (95%), which is higher than the average (83%). Also the proportion of students who had been drunk during the last 12 months is higher (68%) than the average (53%). More students than the average had been smoking in lifetime (80 compared to 66%), while the proportion having smoked during the last 30 days (43%) is closer to the proportions in all countries (35%). About twice as many students in the Czech Republic had used marijuana or hashish (44%) as the average for all countries (21%). |

The use of any other illicit drug than cannabis is also higher than the average (12 compared to 6%). Use of inhalants, however, is about the same in the Czech Republic (9%) as the average (10%). Rather large proportions have used tranquillisers or sedatives without a doctor’s prescription (11%) compared to all countries (6%). Also alcohol in combination with pills is more common in the Czech Republic (12%) than the average (7%). |
