Abstract
Based on The European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD), the paper summarizes the situation and trends in illicit drug use among Czech adolescents in the last 20 years. In the long run, cannabis has been the most widely reported illicit drug, followed by LSD, other hallucinogens and Ecstasy. Trends suggest recent declines in cannabis use since 2011, and changes in patterns in cannabis use by gender. In the European context, the prevalence of substance use in the Czech Republic has stayed above the European average.
